Just another day....

Well.. I happend to find my blog that I had really good intentions to write in.. but.. yeah Medic school WAS THAT BUSY! But truly I loved every minute of it. I was so insanely busy.. I cant even decribe it. I lost my marriage in the process.. but in all fairness.. it was pretty much in trouble before medic school even started. So dont read TO much into that... LOL

OK.. so now I've been trying to get a medic job for the past 6 months. I truly figured that after I had my little piece of paper that I could get a job pretty easily. But for as much as the "need for medics" is out there.. it ISNT around here. And for the departments that are needing medics, it is for FF/Medics... which is EVEN BETTER, because that IS what I want.. but the stinkin process takes 4-6 months. Ugh! Now.. again, in all fairness, there are some private companies around here that are hiring medics, but it is half of what I make now as an Admin Assnt. For as much as I want to be out on the street... I still need to pay my bills .. and get back on my feet after leaving the marriage.. blah blah blah.... such a pickle. Now that I've got that out of my system... I am going back to fill out more applications for FF/Medic jobs anywhere east of the Rockies.

In the beginning...

Hey!

Thanx for stopping by. It's the middle of August and I start Paramedic school next week at UC. I have been on the fire department for a year and half as a Firefighter/EMT. I'm only about 60 hours from my 400. For those not acquainted with the fire service, it's a Level II Firefighter. These days more and more departments are moving to ALS within their own depts and the whole medic thing has always interested me. SO.... I've heard from many friends that for the year you're in school, put your house in order and kiss your family goodbye... we'll see.

Yesterday, Cincy Fire had a really big blaze in Lower Price Hill at Queen City Barrel. It is still burning 18 hours later. One more thought, Steve Vickers, Christina Stewart, Mike Gorman and I are all taking Paramedic together. Hopefully we all make it. Feel free to post comments to different entries...
